Ordinance No. 28/2022 – DIREX/PF was published in the Official Gazette of the Union, which provides for the extension of the deadline for immigration regularization within the scope of the Federal Police.
Brasília/DF - The Federal Police today (3/16) extended some deadlines for immigration regularization of foreigners. The changes were established by Ordinance No. 28/2022 - DIREX/PF, in the Official Federal Gazette, which establishes criteria for extending these deadlines.
According to this new Ordinance, the deadline for obtaining or registering a residence permit and for registering a temporary visa is extended until September 15, 2022. The new date is valid only for foreigners who have expired migratory documentation , as of March 16, 2020. It is important to note that the extension will be available to immigrants and visitors, who have electronically filled in – until the date of publication of Ordinance nº 28/2022 – DIREX/PF – the authorization application of residence, with the presentation of the necessary documentation, but they were not able to schedule an appointment, due to the local restrictions of the care unit. With the adoption of these new measures, the immigrant who regularizes their situation within the established period will avoid penalties for delay in registration or excessive stay in the period.
The PF also clarifies that the service protocols regarding immigration regulations, the request for recognition of refugee status, national immigration registration cards, in addition to provisional documents for national immigration registration, expired as of March 16, 2020, are considered valid, extended and must be accepted, for all purposes, until September 15, 2022 - provided that the rules established by the Ordinance are met.
The measures implemented by Ordinance No. 28/2022 are related to Ordinance No. 25-DIREX/PF, published in the Official Gazette of 08/26/2021. It also extended these deadlines, in response to the number of immigrants pending document regularization due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Calls will continue to be made by appointment, through the Federal Police Scheduling System (https://servicos.dpf.gov.br/agenda-web/acessar) or by email to the Unit where the immigrant is domiciled, observing the care and restrictions of the location. Requests for emergency assistance in the area of immigration can be submitted by applicants, by e-mail, to the Unit in their region.
